That’s why this place was known as Ghodepani. The word Ghodepani converts to Ghorepani.
Ghandruk Ghorepani Trek offers a remarkable mountain background along with charming villages. Inhabited particularly by the Gurungs, Poon & Magars, dense rhododendron forest full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys. All set below the Annapurna’s with the charming peak of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) dominating the horizon.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is perhaps the ultimate short trek in the Himalayas. Suitable for people of all ages, particularly good for families with children, this trek can 5 days in length and still gets into the heart of the Annapurna, which used to be the main pass for Tibetan traders to get to Pokhara from Mustang.
The trek is considered to be one of the best treks in Nepal. Poon Hill (3,210m) is the ultimate viewing point to observe stunning sunrise & sunset and the panorama of the world seventh, eighth & tenth highest Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Manaslu (8163m), and Mt. Annapurna (8091m) respectively, and Nilgiri, Tukuche, Varaha Shikhar, and Lamjung Himal. Hiking up to Poon Hill to watch the sunrise over these stunning snow-covered mountains is something to be treasured.
