Makalu Base Camp Trek – 18 Days takes you on an adventurous journey into the heart of Mt. Makalu. Standing at 8463m, The trekking trail partly runs through Makalu-Barun National Park, one of the newest and well preserved national parks, recognized for its place in the global ecological hotspot. The trek can be done for a different duration depending on the entry and exit points. The first option is to drive to Hile, trek to Makalu Base Camp, and then trek back to Hile and again drive back to Kathmandu from Hile. The second option is to fly to Tumlingtar, trek to Makalu Base Camp and trek back to Tumlingtar and again fly back from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu. The third option is to either fly to Tumlingtar or drive to Hile, trek to Makalu Base Camp, and then cross over the Sherpani Col to enter the Everest region. Further, you will trek down to Lukla and finally fly out of Lukla back to Kathmandu.

Day 1 : Fly from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar (510m.) takes about 45 minutes.

Day 2 : Trek from Maney Bhanjyang to Chilchile (1830m.)

Day 3 : Trek from Chilchile to Num (1500 m.)

Day 4 : Trek from Num to Seduwa (1510m.)

Day 5 : Trek from Seduwa to Tashigaon (2070 m.)

Day 6 : Trek from Tashigaon to Khongma la (3560m.)

Day 7 : Trek from Khongma la to Mumbuk (3550m.)

Day 8 : Trek from Mumbuk to Yangle Kharka (3600m.)

Day 9 : Trek from Yangle Kharka to Yak Kharka (4810m.)

Day 10 : Trek from Yak Kharka to Makalu Base Camp (4812m.)

Day 11 : A day for rest at Makalu Base Camp. You will enjoy

Day 12 : Trek from Makalu Base Camp to Yangle Kharka (3600 m).

Day 13 : Trek from Yangle Kharka to Dobato

Day 14 : Trek from Dobato to Tashigaon (2070m.)

Day 15 : Trek from Tashigaon to Num (1490m.) takes about five hours.

Day 16 : Trek from Num to Maney Bhanjyang (1158m.) takes about five hours

Day 17 : Trek from Maney Bhanjyang to Tumlingtar takes about five and half hours. Stay overnight at camp in Tumlingtar.

Day 18 : Fly out from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu.

Makalu Base Camp Trek is in high-altitude terrains, snow-clad landscapes, and ethnic Himalayan lifestyle. On a solitary trek to Makalu base camp (5250 m), now designated as Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area. Mt.Makalu (8463 m) is the fifth highest peak in the world.
